A Change in a Classic Name

The new creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane is taking the iconic brand into a new direction in a major way.

The ever so famous YSL will now go by Saint Laurent Paris dropping the “Yves” which will “thrust Saint Laurent into a new modern era” according to Women’s Wear Daily. Although many fashion houses go by one name (Prada, Versace), don’t fret, the famous “YSL” logo will remain.

In addition to this change, a YSL film is currently in the works by French director Jalil Laspert. The film will document the 50 year relationship the late Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé had together. From the early beginnings of in the house of Christian Dior to the classic Le Smoking jacket designs, the film will focus on many aspects of their relationship through work and in a more personal sense.

The name change may take some getting used to, but there will never be a Saint Laurent without the Yves in my books!
